ALIVE Magazine's 'GLOW' 2007 Spring Fashion Show Draws Hot Crowd

ST. LOUIS, MO, (SLFP.com) March 16, 2007 - The fashion scene came alive, Thursday evening, at the Orpheum Theatre with St. Louis' own beautiful people arriving for the 'GLOW' spring fashion show, presented by ALIVE Magazine.

ALIVE partnered with Macy's and Budweiser Select to showcase top local stylists, choreographers, models, salons and design houses to bring a whole new experience to the fashion scene in St. Louis.

The theme 'GLOW' was appropriate as Budweiser Select lounges literally glowed throughout the night. Everything from the custom-tailored ice bars featuring designer beer tails and a variety of Anheuser Busch's newest products were creatively illuminated. Guests were also treated to tasty samples from Mosaic Tapas.

The event began with a highly theatrical choreographed performance by Dance St. Louis. Dancers wearing white wigs and extravagant 18th century period costumes gracefully promenaded to classical music performed by a quartet from the Clayton Symphony Orchestra. After numerous prompts for guests to take their seats, Attilio D'Agostino, Editor In Chief of ALIVE Magazine, and Elizabeth Tucker, publisher of ALIVE Magazine, greeted the audience and thanked all the sponsors of the event including Mercedes-Benz of Progress Point, Spa Winghaven, Dr. Kenneth Rotskoff MD, DDS, Y-98 and KTVI FOX 2.

The show opened with a special guest appearance by ALIVE's March cover girl and St. Louis native Kelly Stables, who noted with great enthusiasm that contrary to popular belief, all the "hotties" were not in L.A., but right here in St. Louis. The crowd cheered loudly in response. Stables also noted that a portion of the event's proceeds will benefit the St. Louis-based organization Heat Up St. Louis. Unfortunately, there was no mention of the silent auction taking place in the lower level of the theatre.

The curtain rose to reviel a horse-drawn carriage entering the stage as DJ Charlie Chan Soprano pumped his unique sounds through the stage speakers. The first model, wearing an enormous white powdered wig, stepped out of the carriage, dropped her full length wrap and pranced through a large ornate gold picture frame to the front of the stage.

One by one, 24 male and female models from Centro carefully walked the uneven runway in scenes one and two for a presentation of designer spring fashion from I.N.C., T. Tahari, Kenneth Cole Reaction, Calvin Klein Collection, Michael Kors, and Karen Kane along with more casual lines from: Lucky, Paper Denim & Cloth and Lauren Jeans. Model hair and makeup by Aveda featured the latest in color, styles and trends.

Scene three featured a preview of spring swimwear by Apparel Magazine award-winning hometown designer Lori Coulter wearing jewelry from the exclusive S.King Collection.

The display of ladies in period clothes along with female models in revealing swim suits was thoroughly enjoyed by all the guests. Several male models even received rock star attention with whistles and cheers as they walked the runway. The electrifying GLOW effect of the fashion show was marred only by a lack of narration for the outfits.

Following the success of their poolside fall spectacular at the Chase Park Plaza ALIVE Magazine is to be congratulated for another outstanding fashion affair.
