CHICAGO, (SLFP.com) May 25, 2003 -
Students of the International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT) joined forces with General Motors' North Central Region to add a new dimension to their very hip 24th annual fashion show, "IMAGINE 2003," on May 22, at the Great Hall inside Chicago's Union Station.
This year's show challenged students to design fashions inspired by GM vehicles and their parts. Seatbelts, keys and car upholstery became hot new fashion statements that brought loud cheers of appreciation from the audience.
IADT student finalist Horacio Nieto, Jr, Chicago, was awarded a $1000 scholarship in this year's "Driehaus Award for Fashion Excellence".

In a statement, Erin Shea, IADT's Program Director, Fashion Design, said, "GM's close involvement in this annual event presents a lot of exciting opportunities for students to challenge their creative abilities and stretch their design talents in many new directions."
The show presented 202 men's, women's and children's original designs from a total of 60 designers. The outfits, selected by a professional jury panel, expressed every aspect of fashion from leisure, sportswear, bridal, party, business and just-for-fun fashions.
A wide range of material was represented throughout the show including lavish use of black lace, silk, leather, buttons, feathers and very extravagant bows. Designers presented elegant concepts through unusual patterns, colors and accessories.
Models struted and pranced across the slick stage with great attitude and unwavering focus. The mood became light hearted in a sequence with children's fashions featuring several very young models who skipped, jumped and waved at the delighted audience.
A VIP party preceded the event, sponsored by Bacardi; Chicago Stationary; FGS; Greater State Street Council; Grubb & Ellis; OUTLOOK Marketing Services, Inc.; Target Marketing; and Torchia.
