Omega Launches New Jewelry Collection
PARIS, (Newstream) April 28, 2002 - OMEGA celebrated the worldwide launch of its new jewellery collection at the exclusive Thé‰tre National de Chaillot in Paris last week. The rebirth of OMEGA's jewellery business, which dates back to the 1950s, marks an important step for the brand and strengthens the prestige watchmaker's position in the women's luxury segment.

To celebrate this landmark event, OMEGA is bringing together for the first time all five of its female brand ambassadors: supermodel Cindy Crawford, who has been a partner of OMEGA since 1995, tennis stars Martina Hingis and Anna Kournikova, as well as Chinese supermodel Qi Qi and former Miss Thailand Sirinya Burbridge.
These superstars joined Mr. N. G. Hayek, Chairman and CEO of the Swatch Group and OMEGA, Mrs. Arlette Emch, President of DYB (Dress Your Body, the company responsible for all Swatch Group jewellery) and Mr. Stephen Urquhart, President of OMEGA, for a press conference to unveil the new jewellery collection, the worldwide distribution strategy and the reasons behind the rebirth of OMEGA's jewellery business. At the same time, Omega presented exclusive jewellery pieces to each of the five ambassadors.
With the launch of its new Bijoux (jewelery) collection, OMEGA continues the heritage of its famous jewellery collections from the 1960s and 1970s. Thanks to the synergies available within OMEGA's parent company, the Swatch Group, OMEGA is today able to enter the jewellery market as part of a group-wide approach with the expert support of DYB - the Swatch Group subsidiary responsible for jewellery for all Swatch Group brands.
OMEGA's re-entrance in the jewelery market has been timed to capitalise on its current strong position in the ladies luxury segment. Over the past few years, sales of OMEGA ladies watches have more than doubled and now account for nearly half of the brand's total turnover.
However, even OMEGA's ambitious plans to open more Flagship Stores at prime shopping locations worldwide will not be sufficient to reach the target customer base for the OMEGA Bijoux. In an initial phase, distribution is therefore extended to Swatch Group Tourbillon Stores, OMEGA showrooms and OMEGA stores worldwide, with the collection rolled out in around 20-25 outlets by the autumn of 2002.

created by MAAX (TSE:MXA.) won second prize in the 2002 edition of the "New Product Pavilion" contest organized for
exhibitors of the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show & Conference (KBIS) taking place earlier this month in Chicago. First place
went to a drawer organizing system from Julius Blum and third place was awarded to a bath accessory from Noveletti.
"This is one of the greatest recognitions we could hope for because KBIS is one of the biggest shows of the Industry and all the
voting is done by our peers," said Pat Henaire, VP of Marketing and R&D.
Kitchen & Bath Business, the leading trade magazine in the Kitchen and Bath Industry, launched the New Product Pavilion
contest four years ago. Contest winners are chosen by the attendees, who vote after touring the New Product Pavilion. As an
added promotional benefit, winners are to be featured in the June 2002 issue of Kitchen & Bath Business, which reaches over
50,000 architects, interior designers, kitchen dealers and designers, custom builders, remodelers, distributors and others.
The tub is scheduled for market introduction in August 2002. In addition to
classic style and comfort, this innovative (77" x 37" x 24") tilt-forward bathtub lets the light through for added effect.
Nowadays, tubs tend to be larger and deeper since people don't like to crunch down to be completely submerged in water.
Currently, claw-foot baths are also making a strong comeback. The Translucent Moonlight(R) Tub incorporates the essential
elements of these trends in a luxury 6-foot soaker.
The Moonlight(R) Tub rests on a handmade Charcoal wrought iron base. It is available in Lagoon Blue or Ice White and is
