Winter Wonderland at the Park

St. Louis, (Jan. 19, 2002) - The first snow storm of the year covered the St. Louis area with several inches providing a winter wonderland backdrop for creative photography at Tower Grove Park. With an exuberant leap, Jennifer Fox, a sophomore at Seckman High School, seemed to float in midair in front of (L.-R.) Abigail Bollinger, a junior at Lindbergh High School, Cheryl Fox (with camera), a sophomore at Forest Park Community College, and Kim Schneider, a sophomore at Affton High School. Jennifer and Kim were wearing formal gowns and tennis shoes as the subjects of Cheryl's photo project at the snow-covered Ruins. © Bob Moore, SLFP.com

' Oxygen's New Series Spotlighting Female Law Enforcement Officers and the Unique Challenges They Face
ST. LOUIS, MO (SLFP.com) January 9, 2002 - An Alaska state trooper, a New Jersey crime scene investigator, and a Baltimore vice squad detective are just a few of the law enforcement officers profiled in the compelling new Oxygen series, "Women & The Badge," premiering Sunday, January 27, at 8:00 p.m.
Legendary actress Pam Grier, star of the Quentin Tarantino film "Jackie Brown," as well as "Foxy Brown" and "Greased Lightning," hosts the 13-part series. The weekly documentary show, shot exclusively on digital video, covers all aspects of the lives of these female officers. Executive produced by Kit Laybourne and Kathleen Minton, the series will air every Sunday.
Former New York City Police Commissioner under former Mayor Rudolph Guiliani, Howard Safir, who spent 13 years as Chief of Operations of the U.S. Marshals Service, serves as consultant to the series that interweaves ongoing stories about women who follow similar careers in federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
"Women & The Badge' is the first series to truly spotlight one of this country's most valuable resources - women law enforcement officers," stated Safir. "We provide an honest portrayal of these officers as real people who face common everyday struggles and issues, but with the added burden of serving in law enforcement."
In the first episode, "Women & The Badge" visits three diverse officers. First, Lisa Olzsewski, valedictorian of her class at the Baltimore Police Academy, is seen during her first assignment. Next, viewers fly patrol over America's last frontier with Alaska State Trooper Lisa Alleva. Finally, Stacey LaMondue, a Memphis crisis intervention officer, is in the camera's eye coming to the aid of a mentally challenged woman.
Senior produced by Jon Nealon, future episodes will include a domestic violence officer from Yonkers, N.Y.; a team of sister patrol officers from Newark; and deputy U.S. Marshal trainees at the federal law enforcement training center in Glynco, Ga. Rick Friedberg, who served in New York City Government as Director of Advance for former Mayor Guiliani, as well as Deputy Commissioner for the United Nations and Consular Corp, also works as a consultant to the series.
