ATLANTA, (ENTERTAINMENT WIRE), July 6, 2001 - An all new episode of TBS
Superstation's RIPLEY'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT!® premieres on Wednesday, July 18, with
fascinating stories from around the world, including women modeling elaborate clothing made
from chocolate and the One Arm Bandits, a softball team comprised entirely of men and women
who are missing limbs, yet compete without prosthetics and win games against able-bodied
teams.
RIPLEY'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT!®, hosted by actor Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New
Adventures of Superman), airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. (ET/PT), exclusively on TBS
Superstation.
Other highlights from the July 18 episode include the following:
- Rocket Racer: Billy Copeland has added 24 rockets to his
downhill luge. Copeland will power his luge in an attempt to
reach a speed of 100 miles per hour.
- Knife Dog: Eva Oliver noticed her puppy Kyle was not feeling
well so she took him to the vet. Upon arrival, the vet
discovered that the puppy had swallowed a 15-inch serrated
knife. The vet operated immediately, and now Kyle is healthy
and eating normally.
- Eye Periscope: At the age of 14, Wlodzimierz Nazaruk was
blinded when his corneas were destroyed in an accident. With
the help of Dr. Arthur Cotliar, however, he is now able to see
after being blind for 45 years. Cotliar placed a periscope
through Nazaruk's eyelid and cornea to allow light into the
eye.
- Egg Man: David Nakfoor can catch just about anything in his
mouth that is tossed to him, including a hard-boiled egg
thrown from 180 feet away by a minor league baseball pitcher.
- Ice Sculptures: Randy Finch and Derek Maxfield create works of
art out of ice. Their most unique ice sculptures have included
a working ferris wheel with swinging baskets and a life-sized
pool table with cue sticks, balls and pockets.
