ST. CHARLES, (SLFP.com), July 31, 2002 - A vibrant fireworks display will explode over historic St. Charles, August 6, at 9:45 p.m., for the grand opening of the 130,000 square foot Ameristar Casino, located north of Hwy 70 on the Missouri Riverfront. Guests will enjoy live entertainment, gaming options with 3,300 slot and video poker machines including 'Groovy Baby' and 'Harley Davidson', live poker room, 95 table games, live entertainment and seven diverse restaurants.

The pyrotechnics display with the explosion of an unprecedented 12,000 shells, is designed and directed by the Grucci Fireworks Family of New York. The show will be executed from three separate areas at Ameristar St. Charles' new plaza and choreographed to move with music selections.

Working with award-winning architects and designers, Ameristar has created a "distinctive, premier property," said Ameristar President and Chief Executive Officer Craig H. Neilsen. "Our new St. Charles facility represents the ultimate expression of our strategy of bringing our guests a gaming and entertainment experience that combines an expansive property with an atmosphere that is comfortably accommodating and reflective of the region."

Ameristar Casino features a casino floor the size of five football fields with state-of-the art slot and video poker machines and $2 million in stained glass light fixtures.
Guests can enter the facility after traveling across an elevated roadway to the impressive porte cochere, the design of which is derived from the historic wharf, train station and pavilion structures of the 1800s.

Featuring bolted structural steel trusses, expansive glass skylights and Victorian detailing, this dramatic entrance signals to Ameristar visitors that they have arrived at a destination of grandeur.

A cobblestone path leads guests from the town square to Main Street past a dramatic fountain shooting water 40 feet high. From Main Street guests may access the casino and seven restaurant and entertainment venues under a magnificent skylight. Inspired by the 1880s architecture of the historic St. Charles River Port District, Main Street's building facades are detailed with clapboard sidings, operable framed windows, decorative metal railings, porches and balconies.

Among the dining and entertainment options that await guests are:
Bottleneck Blues Bar
