Tour of Missouri Rolls Into St. Louis for Stage Seven
ST. LOUIS, MO, (SLFP.com), September 7, 2008 - The grand finale of the 2008 Tour of Missouri will again finish, September 14, with a circuit race in St. Louis, Missouri's largest metropolis and one of America's great sports cities.

The new start and finish line for 2008 is at Tucker and Market in front of St. Louis' City Hall, though the circuit still includes the majestic St. Louis Union Station at 18th and Market. That is not the only change. This year's course will route five times and encompass a large part of Forest Park, routing on Lagoon and Government Drives within the Park, and past the Museum, before returning through the Central West End.

"This year we welcome the second Tour of Missouri cycling race to our state, showcasing Missouri to an international audience. Scheduled September 8th to 14th, from St. Joseph to St. Louis, the Tour will highlight Missouri's beautiful scenery, kind hospitality, great food and challenging cycling terrain," Gov. Blunt said. "We are seeking volunteers to assist with this exciting event and I am encouraging Missourians to get involved in the Tour of Missouri."

For an event that is described as the traveling Super Bowl of cycling, volunteers are needed at each start and finish location for jobs such as security, media, hospitality, volunteer check-in and course marshals. Missouri Wines to Join Tour of Missouri
ST. LOUIS, MO, (SLFP.com), September 7, 2008 - Missouri wines will be along for the ride when the Tour of Missouri professional cycling race returns to the Show-Me State Sept. 8-14, 2008. The Missouri Wine & Grape Board is proud to return as a silver sponsor of the Tour of Missouri and introduce cycling enthusiasts from across the globe to Missouri's world class wines and juices.

Missouri wine country is a major feature of the 2008 Tour of Missouri. The challenging, scenic terrain of wine country, a favorite of both riders and spectators, is featured in stages five and six of the race. The course winds through river bottoms, up gentle hills and even through intense bluffs passing alongside vineyards and charming, historic wine country towns like St. James, Hermann and Augusta.

"Missouri wineries are gearing up for this year's tour and look forward to the opportunity," said Jim Anderson, executive director of the Missouri Wine & Grape Board. "Many wineries are hosting special events in conjunction with the race offering a variety of wines and juices for fans of the tour."

Tour of Missouri fans will be able to experience Missouri wines at each stage of the race. Missouri wines and juices will be poured exclusively in the VIP hospitality tents at each start and finish city. Representatives from wineries across Missouri will be on hand to pour samples and talk about their award-winning products. In addition, the Missouri Wine & Grape Board will host a booth at several of the Health and Wellness Expo locations in start and finish cities.

New National Personnel Records Center to be Built
ST. LOUIS, MO, (SLFP.com), September 7, 2008 - The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), working through the General Services Administration (GSA), has announced plans to lease a new built-to-suit facility at 1829 Dunn Road in St. Louis, MO.

The new facility will replace the 1950s-era Military Personnel Records Center now at 9700 Page Avenue in St. Louis and a portion of the Civilian Personnel Records Center on Winnebago Road in St. Louis. Initial occupancy of the new building is scheduled for March 2010.

The Dunn Road facility will house the National Personnel Records Center, part of the NARA's Federal Records Center Program. The Center contains 56 million personnel files of twentieth century military service veterans, and 25 million Federal civilian personnel files dating from the early twentieth century to the 1970s. All of these files are designated as permanent, historic records. Each year, a portion of the military personnel files are transferred from military services' ownership to the legal custody of the National Archives, when 62 years has elapsed since an individual's separation from service. Civilian personnel files will also be accessioned into National Archives custody in the near future.

In addition to records storage, the new facility will contain public research rooms, an archival preservation laboratory, public meeting rooms, and staff offices. "The new facility is specially designed for the storage of and access to archival records," said Archivist of the United States Allen Weinstein. "It will meet strict standards for fire prevention, security, temperature and humidity control, and air filtration. And that's just for records! Staff and public visitors will also enjoy comfortable work and research areas, ample parking, and public bus service."

The Dunn Road facility will be the busiest National Archives storage and research operation, answering over one million requests annually for access to or copies of records. Requestors seek to verify service, apply for benefits, obtain medals, research medical conditions, and conduct historical and genealogical research. Most requestors are military veterans or their family members. The vast majority of requests arrive in the mail or via NARA's web site at www.archives.gov/veterans/evetrecs/. On-site visitation has been increasing, a trend that will likely continue at the new facility.

Six hundred National Archives staff will work at the new building. Most staff will transfer from the Page Avenue facility and some from the Winnebago Road facility, both of which will close. Several other Federal agencies will also use a small amount of space in the new building for personnel records related work.

The Dunn Road facility will be the newest of NARA's 34 locations, including 4 in the Washington DC area, 18 regional archives and records centers, and 12 Presidential Libraries.

GSA announced separately that it had awarded a development contract to Barry Real Estate Companies, Inc. of Atlanta to build the Dunn Road facility. Skanska Construction of Atlanta will partner with Tarlton Corporation of St. Louis to construct the 474,690 square-foot facility. HKS, Inc. of Dallas is the lead architectural firm. 1829 Dunn Road is located in northeast St. Louis County, adjacent to Interstate 270 and Highway 367.
