AT&T Selects St. Louis for Its Ultra-Fast Fiber Network
ST. LOUIS, MO, (SLFP.com), April 21, 2014 - AT&T has announced a major initiative to expand its ultra-fast fiber network to up to 100 candidate cities and municipalities nationwide, including St. Louis as one of 21 new major metropolitan areas.

The fiber network will deliver AT&T U-verse®with GigaPower(SM) service, which can deliver broadband speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second and AT∓T's most advanced TV services, to consumers and businesses.

AT&T will work with local leaders in these markets to discuss ways to bring the service to their communities. Similar to previously announced metro area selections in Austin and Dallas and advanced discussions in Raleigh-Durham and Winston-Salem, communities that have suitable network facilities, and show the strongest investment cases based on anticipated demand and the most receptive policies will influence these future selections and coverage maps within selected areas. This initiative continues AT&T's ongoing commitment to economic development in these communities, bringing jobs, advanced technologies and infrastructure.

The list of 21 candidate metropolitan areas includes: Atlanta, Augusta, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale, Greensboro, Houston, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, Oakland, Orlando, San Antonio, San Diego, St. Louis, San Francisco, and San Jose. With previously announced markets, AT&T now has committed to or is exploring 25 metro areas for fiber deployment.

"We're delivering advanced services that offer consumers and small businesses the ability to do more, faster, help communities create a new wave of innovation, and encourage economic development," said Lori Lee, senior executive vice president, AT&T Home Solutions. "We're interested in working with communities that appreciate the value of the most advanced technologies and are willing to encourage investment by offering solid investment cases and policies."

ST. LOUIS, MO, (SLFP.com), April 21, 2014 - The St. Louis Public Library is proud to welcome St. Louis native and media personality Joe "Mama" Mason as the guest speaker at the final Spring 2014 installment of its series, TV Talk: The Book Club for TV People.

The program takes place at Central Library, 1301 Olive Street, on April 28 at 7 p.m. The event is FREE and open to the public. Seating is first-come, first-served.

He also worked closely with a senior producer and the production team in L.A. and coordinated with the show's writer. The segments were shot with a 4K digital cinema camera owned by Mason's production company, Illustrated Man.

Joe Mason's directing credits include programs that have aired on ABC Family, Animal Planet, CNN, Discovery, Discovery Health, the Travel Channel, Turner, and VH-1. His television credits also include national commercials for Ocean Spray and Sea-Doo. He began his career in St. Louis radio, quickly becoming a popular on-air personality at KSHE and KSD-FM.

Green Sales Tax Holiday Means Savings on Energy-efficient Appliances
ST. LOUIS, MO, (SLFP.com), April 21, 2014 - Missouri's sixth annual Show-Me Green Sales Tax holiday, which provides shoppers in Missouri with the opportunity to save on energy-efficient appliances, runs through Friday, April 25.

Shoppers who purchase new ENERGY STAR®-qualified appliances in Missouri during the holiday will not have to pay the 4.225 percent state sales tax.

Examples of ENERGY STAR®-labeled appliances that qualify for the sales tax exemption are:

Clothes washers, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps

Many local government entities have also opted to participate in the holiday, which means qualified purchases in those areas will be exempt not just from the state sales tax, but also from city, county and special district sales taxes.

Twelve counties, 53 cities and 18 special districts have opted to participate in the holiday. For more information on the holiday and to view a list of participating entities, visit the Missouri Department of Revenue's website, dor.mo.gov/business/sales/taxholiday/green/.
