ST. LOUIS, (SLFP.com) - Visitors can step back into prehistoric time at the Saint Louis Zoo this spring, when they enter the world of "Dinoroarus." Sixteen life-size animatronic dinosaurs will move, roar and spit in a one-of-a-kind walk-through exhibit which the Zoo will launch near River's Edge, beginning April 18. Animatronic figures can be mechanized and preprogrammed to replicate creatures in a realistic way. Twists and turns in the Dinoroarus pathway will have a new surprise around every corner. Some of the colorful dino mega-stars on hand will include Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, Dilophosaurus, Stegosaurus, and even some baby dinosaurs. Young paleontologists can unearth some Jurassic treasures in a hands-on fossil dig. Thrill seekers can experience "Dino Island 2" in a 3-D motion simulator. "Even though dinosaurs have been extinct for 65,000,000 years, there is still information we are learning about them," says Dr. Jeffrey Bonner, president & CEO of the Zoo. "What were the dinosaurs' ecosystems and how were they affected by change? Why did some animals, like the Zoo's tuatara, survive? Is extinction inevitable? "We hope that youngsters will get the idea that there are always new scientific ideas to discover," Bonner adds. "We think 'Dinoroarus' will be fun and educational." Dinoroarus will run April 18-September 1, 2008. Admission will be $3.00 per person, and $1.50 for Zoo Friends. Children under two will be free. The motion simulator will be $4.00 per person. A $5.00 Dino Pass will include admission to the exhibit and the motion simulator. |
