A Family Affair at the Park During Annual Forest Park Kite Festival

ST. LOUIS, (SLFP.com), May 13, 2001 - A weekend-long celebration featuring the 9th annual Forest Park Kite Festival and a Mother's Day Festival was held in Forest Park.
The warm blue sky over Central Fields on Saturday was filled with hundreds of colorful kites guided by young and old kids. Nearby, toddlers played with hand-made kites as their parents tried to untangle yards of string. The event, sponsored by Citigroup, Forest Park Forever and the St. Louis Department of Parks, featured professional kite demonstrations; live entertainment including MUNY Teens, Leaping Lizards Dance Troupe; parachutists; aerial fireworks; kite making workshops and a Kid Zone with magicians and balloon artists.
A special Mother's Day Celebration was held at the Jewel Box on Sunday, Family activities include trolley tours of Forest Park, family photo packages at reduced cost, Jewel Box Floral Display; Trilogy Band and Circa 1904 Barbershop Quartet and a children's area.

Clowns entertained young children with playful balloon creations during the Kite Festival at Central Fields in Forest Park. The Free-For-All featured pony rides, an animal petting area and an inflatable dragon-castle slide for kids.
