Hibernians Name The Muny's Denny Reagan As Irish Person of the Year
ST. LOUIS, MO, (SLFP.com), January 6, 2011 - The Ancient Order of Hibernians of St. Louis have selected Muny President and CEO Denny Reagan as the Irish Person of the Year. Reagan will be honored at the Irish Emerald Ball, Saturday, February 5th, 2011 at Andre's Banquet Center, 4254 Telegraph Rd.
Before being named President of the Muny in 1991, Reagan had advanced through the ranks of the outdoor theatre by working as a member of the clean-up team, wardrobe dresser, member of the stage crew, runner/courier, office clerk, office manager, Manager of Theatre Operations and Assistant General Manager. He attended Bishop DuBourg High School and received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from University of Missouri - St. Louis.
In addition to his work for the Muny, Reagan is actively involved with a number of local and national arts, civic and academic institutions. He served as president of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre, an associate member of the Broadway League and a board member of the Professional Theatre Awards Council and the Atlanta Theatre of the Stars. He is a board member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Great Circle (Edgewood/Boys and Girls Homes of Missouri), and also serves on the boards of the Central Institute for the Deaf and Bishop DuBourg High School. He is a member of the Chancellor's Council of the University of Missouri St. Louis and Commissioner of the Regional Arts Commission (RAC), the area's largest annual funder of the arts, dedicated to the cultivation, promotion and fostering of cultural programming in the St. Louis region.
In a statement, Pat Maloney, Emerald Ball Chairman, said: "We are proud to have Denny Reagan as the Irishperson of the year. He exemplifies that the old saying 'he has the luck of the Irish' is actually a combination of ambition, education, hard work and perseverance."
In addition to Reagan, the Hibernians will also recognize Dave Gallagher as the Hibernian of the Year, and Mike O'Shea as the Young Hibernian of the Year. Both are being honored for their service to the Hibernians, including their work on the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dogtown, the Irish Country Fair, the Emerald Ball and numerous other projects. A Special Achievement Award will also be presented to George Clough, a former National President of the Hibernians.
The Emerald Ball is open to the public. Reservations, at $35.00 per person can be made by calling Pat Maloney, (314)752-7810. The dinner begins with cocktails at 6:00 p.m. with music by Bernie Bulte entertainment by the O'Faoláin Academy of Irish Dance and concludes with dancing to music of Patrick White. All proceeds of the event will be donated to the Bishop DuBourg High School Scholarship Fund, a charity selected by Mr. Reagan.
