Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Honored in St. Louis at 37th Holiday Observance
ST. LOUIS, (SLFP.com), January 15, 2007 - The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Celebration, on January 15, 2007, began with a Civic Ceremony in the Rotunda of the Old Courthouse at 10 a.m. featuring St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay, city officials, music and speakers.
Braving cold, wet weather and temperatures in the lower thirties, dignitaries, families and friends began the march following the ceremony at the Old Courthouse.
Themed "The Struggle Continues...Protecing and Embracing Our Youth Secures Our Future", the parade moved through the streets of downtown St. Louis from 4th & Market, west to Tucker, north on Tucker to Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, west on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive to Page. The march then turned southwest on Page to Grand Blvd. and south on Grand Blvd. to Powell Symphony Hall.
The Interfaith Service at Powell Symphony Hall at 12:30 p.m. featured speakers Rev. Dr. Major L. Jemison of The Progressive National Baptist Convention and Pastor of the St. John M.B. Church in Oklahoma City, OK. Music will be provided by The Olivette M.B. Church, Mesha Brown and Austin Layne and others.

Theme: "The Struggle Continues...Protecing and Embracing Our Youth Secures Our Future" - Hundreds of families and civic leaders marched along Market Street toward Powell Symphony Hall for the 37th Anniversary Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Celebration in St. Louis.
