ST. LOUIS, (SLFP.com), October 21, 2003 - The landscape in Chesterfield Valley once featured acres of rich farm land bordered by towering trees. Today, the area known as Boone's Crossing is fast becoming a mecca for retail, restaurant and office business.
Recently, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for a new 3-story medical office building. Boone's Crossing Medical Building, a 61,392 square-foot office/medical facility is located on the north side of Highway 40/64.
The building's owners/developers own a similar building, Chesterfield Valley Medical Building, located south of Highway 40/64. The 100% leasing success of the 26,000 square-foot building prompted the owners to consider building more medical office space.
In an interview prior to the ceremonial groundbreaking, Chesterfield Mayor John Nations, commented about the growth in the Valley. "It's difficult to realize that ten years ago right about where we are standing had ten feet of water on it."

"This job wouldn't have been born if HBD hadn't done such a good job on our first building," stated Dr. Rick Goldberg, one of five investors in Boone's Crossing Medical Building.

"Due to what I call a Partnership of Progress among the City, the fire district, the school district and St. Louis County, we have been able not only to recover from the flood of '93, but to rejuvenate and reinvigorate Chesterfield with everything that you are seeing now. Frankly, it's reinvigorating the entire St. Louis region," stated the mayor with great enthusiasm.
"People now see Chesterfield as a great place to invest, a place to live and a place to relocated their businesses," continued Mayor Nations.
"I'm always concerned about having appropriate and quality development throughout the Valley," stated the mayor. In response to a question about the overdevelopment of the area, he emphasized that the City has a good land use plan that will have long-term benefits for the City of Chesterfield and the region as a whole."
Mayor Nations noted that bringing mass transit to the Valley is one of his priorities. "I have assembled a coalition of ten cities, including Chesterfield, to make bringing MetroLink to West County, specifically Chesterfield Valley, a priority."
"While that may seem like a pipedream, lately there has been a revised request in the U.S. House of Representatives to do some preliminary design and the initial environmental impact statement about what it would take to bring MetroLink to West St. Louis County," stated the Mayor.
He emphasized that one of the impairments to the future quality of the region is the means to efficiently move people and freight around the area. He pointed out that the mission of Metro, formerly known as Bi-State, is to promote economic development through quality transportation.
He stated that in order to achieve this goal, it was necessary to be able to connect the work force to the employment centers in the Valley.
"On a regional level, we hope to turn St. Louis into the leader in the world in the life sciences industry. It's a matter of having a broad view of what the region can be and Chesterfield is an integral part of that," stated the Mayor.
