You Want Your Order When?
Smart Card
The portable hand-held, wireless SmartICE card payment system from Hypercom will speed order entry and payment processing at restaurants.
Thin Red Line
(BUSINESS WIRE, Aug 23) - Making payments at a restaurant, car rental company, stadium or even a hospital will be quick and easy with a new palm-size, wireless payment terminal called SmartICE.

To process an order and payment in a restaurant setting, for example, the menu is downloaded from a PC into the SmartICE. A waiter uses the SmartICE's intuitive, graphical touch-screen to input the customer's order, and communicates the order to the kitchen by hitting the enter key. A printer in the kitchen prints out the order and table number. When the order is ready for pick-up, the kitchen signals the waiter's SmartICE. When the diners complete their meal, the waiter uses the SmartICE to complete the customer's cash or card payment transaction at their table.

With a near-palm-size footprint, Hypercom's SmartICE can be worn or carried by service providers, or conveniently docked for stationary use. SmartICE brings portability to payment transactions including an easy-to-use touch-screen pen entry capability, graphics thermal printer, automatic paper cutter, magnetic stripe and smart card reader and built-in lithium ion battery.

"Consumers want quick, quality and convenient service with multiple payment options," said Jairo E. Gonzalez, managing director, global sales and marketing, Hypercom Corporation. The SmartICE card payment system supports an array of payment options including credit, debit and smart card transactions, electronic benefits transfer, priority and fleet cards, checks and cash payments, as well as customer order entry.

Hypercom's SmartICE card payment system will be available for shipment in January, 2000. For more information, visit Hypercom's web site at www.hypercom.com
