ST. LOUIS, MO, (SLFP.com), August 23, 2009 - On Thursday, St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay and officials from St. Louis Development Corporation visited Mediomics, a St. Louis based biotechnology company, at 5445 Highland Park Drive to make the presentation of the Mayor's Spirit Award and to tour the labs. Founded in 2001 by Dr. Yie-Hwa Chang, Mediomics' state-of-the-art testing applications have found broad usage in academic laboratories, pharmaceutical applications, testing operations, and medical environmental research markets. Dr. Yie-Hwa Chang and his wife, Margaret Meng, chief administrative officer/controller, are apart of the City's ongoing recognition of businesses that make major expansions or improvements to their existing locations, open or relocate to the City. Mediomics prides itself as having a one-step, rapid assay kit, allowing faster, more accurate and cost-effective testing in their labs. Mediomics is helping the City continue to grow, as a global biotechnology hub. Mediomics has exclusive licensing options with Saint Louis University and Professor David Waisman at the University of Calgary. The company has successfully competed for government funding and subcontracts from the National Institute of Health, the U.S. Dept of Homeland Security, and locally the St. Louis Development Corporation to expand the company's product line and create up to 15 full-time jobs. Last year, Mediomics moved from an incubator near Saint Louis University to a 4,500 square-foot facility at 5445 Highland Park Drive. St. Louis Public Schools System Chooses nFocus Software for Community Solution ST. LOUIS, MO, (SLFP.com), August 23, 2009 - St. Louis Public Schools selected nFocus Software to provide the school district with a registration and outcome based student assessment system for its Community Education Program. nFocus Software will provide St. Louis Public Schools with the ability to assess, improve, and secure additional funding for its community programs and activities. TraxSolutions, the participant management system from nFocus Software, will enable St. Louis Public Schools to register participants online, track attendance using scanners, manage program data, and build logic models with outcome measurement. The software will also allow the school district to create and share reports to demonstrate and validate the Community Education Program's impact. "As St. Louis Public Schools' Community Education Full Service Schools add health, mental health, employment, and other services to its existing community education programs, nFocus Software provides a critical means to achieving success. With the implementation of this software, online registration, ID card attendance, robust reporting, and data sharing between organizations can finally become a reality," said Peg Pedersen, St. Louis Community Education Supervisor. "Preparing young people to be 'Ready by 21,' addressing the challenges faced by adults and families, and providing a nurturing environment in which all have the opportunity for success, require that the whole community work together. TraxSolutions provides a powerful tool that keeps the focus on success for all." "St. Louis Public Schools, like so many of our school districts in America, provide services not only for children during the school day, but for all community residents through programs for adults, youth, and families," remarked Ananda Roberts, President of nFocus Software. "This school district's decision to track and share data and outcomes is a step toward a general recognition, funding, and celebration of our school districts for their often unsung role in community development." |
